Your credit card is expiring, you want to switch to SEPA direct debit, or you need to add a new card? Through the Stripe customer portal, you can change your payment method at any time. In this article, you will learn how to get there and what options the portal offers.
Open your AutoLetter dashboard and click on "Payment" in the left navigation. You will reach the overview of your payment and billing information.
Click the "Open Stripe Portal" button. You will be redirected to the secure Stripe management interface. You are already logged in with your AutoLetter account there.
In the Stripe customer portal, you have the following options:
Confirm your changes in the Stripe portal. The new payment method takes effect immediately and will be used for all future billings.
Do not remove your active payment method without first adding a new one. Without a valid payment method, active campaigns cannot be billed and letter delivery may be stopped. Your service status may change to "Overdue".
In addition to the payment method, the Stripe customer portal offers other useful functions:
Does a change take effect immediately? Yes, changes to the payment method take effect immediately. The next billing will be processed through the new payment method.
Can I store multiple payment methods? Yes, you can store multiple payment methods in the Stripe portal. Stripe uses the method marked as default for the charge.
What happens with an expired credit card? Stripe tries to notify you via email before a card expires. If the charge fails, you have a few days to add a new payment method. Otherwise, your service status will be set to "Overdue".
It is best to store a backup payment method (e.g., SEPA direct debit alongside your credit card) so there is no interruption when switching cards.
